Lake Hali or The Lake of Hali is a misty lake on whose shore stands Carcosa. Sometimes, the city in which The King In Yellow is set – Yhtill, perhaps, or Hastur, depending on interpretation – is said to sit upon the opposite bank, in which case Carcosa is often seen as being an imaginary or phantom city, yet which at certain times can be viewed across the waters of the lake.

It has also been suggested, now dried into desert, as the origin of the Gobi basin or a lake bed in the Rub al-Khali.

It may be described as filled with cloud rather than misty, although this is more often a property associated with Lake Demhe.

Finally, in The Repairer of Reputations it is stated that the twin suns over Carcosa sink into the lake, though this may simply be a turn of phrase related to line of sight, akin to "the sun sank into the sea".
